Gosaina Gorib newaj ningthoudamana hoiba asi chumbana hoidna honge...
Gosaina khuman ningthou hoi gosai oigi ipa ipu pungnamadi bishnu
upasanane istodebo adu thathokbadi oigi pukningna yate oduna oibu
bishnumantra pio bishnu upasana toujoyage...
Ningthougi ya taduna gosai na hoi bishnubu yamna pamna pamlba oye
hoiduna Bishnupriya pikhiye...
Bishnubu yamna pame hoidna gosaina bishnu upasana touba khut osibu "Bishnupriyo"

English Rendering:
The people led by khuman king
went against the Nungkhrang Luppa. The Goswami saint(Santidas Gosai)
said," Why is your Majesty opposed to the ceremony?" The king said, "
Goswami, all the people of Manipur are not tribal. There is a good
number of clans like Khuman and Lwang etc. devoited to Nama sincetheir
forefathers time in the land,but opposed to wild practices. They may
therefore, be exempted from Praischitta and given the Nama". King
Garib Newaj nodded his head and said " Yes, Gosai! It is correct".
Guswami thenturned to the khuman king and said " O king,mu cult is
Rama-worship, so you too please accept the ramandi religion". The
khuman king said in reply, "my forfathers were devoted to Bishnu. The
mind is not ready to giveup the deva of our ancestors and so please do
favor". Hearing thus the saint observed and replied, " O king, I see
youare very much attached to Vishnu and chant vishnumantra. So You
will given the name Bishnupriyo on account of your untagged love to
Vishnu.
The Meetei people who adopted the Noangkhrang Luppa, became strongly
jealous to the people who adopted the Nama atease without undergoing
the atonement ceremony and proclaimed their seperation from them. Now
in their turn the Bishnupriyas too proclaimed their separation from
them.
Thus the people of Manipur who had been in cordinal relationship with
one another so long, became seperated into two distinct subgroups.
